Date Night

Published by jen at 11:06 pm under Posts Edit This

Fondue Fun

This month’s book club read is Our Lady of Weight Loss by Janice Taylor. It is a riot and oddly inspiring.

I’m so glad my husband and I were able to have date night at the Melting Pot last week so that I could eat there prior to reading this book!  I love fondue-style eating and I especially like getting some time alone with my husband.  With eight kids, the Melting Pot is one of the few places we can actually have uninterrupted adult interaction for more than two hours.  We try to get away for date night once a week.

The picture below leaves a little to be desired, but I was trying to show off the dessert platter. We could choose from fresh fruit and brownies to cheesecake and marshmallows to dip in our chocolate fondue. It was so yummy and I must admit I did deviate a little from being gluten-free that night, because I couldn’t resist the bread with our cheese fondue. But, as “Our Lady” puts it, “Thou shalt not deny thyself a treat or two now and then.” So I will count it as a good memory and move on.

What a lovely photo. Hubby and I a date morning every Monday. We drop off the boys at school and then head for McD’s for breakfast. Not exactly romantic like where you went but it’s convenient for location and price! LOL Sometimes if we’re on tight deadlines (both freelancers) it’s tempting to cut the time, but 99% of the time we keep our date morning sacred. That’s our time to chat and focus on what’s important in our lives: our family.

Awww, your date looks fun! I’ve never been to the Melting Pot, but, I used to sometimes do fondue at home. I should find another pot & start that again!

What a great idea for a date night! My husband and I try and do something like that once a week (if not more, we’re pre-kiddies… figure make the most of it while we can). I love the idea of a fondue place! We’ve got one opening up in a nearby town - we’ll have to check it out when its officially opened!
