Real Baby Steps
Milestones
Ezra, our one year old, with trusty balancing tinkertoy in hand, took his first two steps today! One of my daughters used to use a toothbrush to help her walk. When she dropped it, she fell. It’ll be interesting to see if he follows that pattern. Seeing him reach these milestones reminds me of why I need to be healthy. As mother of five and stepmother to three more, there are a lot of milestones for me to witness and enjoy. That’s definitely motivation!
With two teenage girls and three preteen girls, I am constantly needed for driving, consulting, typing, shopping, cleaning, emotional support and sharing. Our boys (9, 3 & 1) keep me moving from place to place and action to action. Life doesn’t usually slow down so that I can evaluate my effectiveness. I recharge with simple things like yearly vacations, bi-annual haircuts and pedicures, monthly book club meetings, bi-weekly dates, weekly pilates and temple trips, and daily reading in the car as I wait for children. What do you do to recharge?
